Because of its strategic and geographical location, Southern Pine Electric’s service territory can be considered a hub of economic potential.  Located near numerous metropolitan population centers including New Orleans, Jackson and the Mississippi Gulf Coast,  Southern Pine Electric’s 11 county area — Copiah, Lawrence, Jefferson Davis, Simpson, Covington, Rankin, Smith, Scott, Jasper, Newton and Forrest counties — serves as a destination for major retail and industry, healthcare, education and recreation.

Retail and Industry:  Southern Pine Electric’s service territory includes a diverse selection of retail and industry, including local businesses and manufacturing and numerous industrial parks and facilities.

Healthcare:  Our service area is situated between the three largest healthcare centers in the state.  Hospitals and clinics in Hattiesburg, Meridian and Jackson employ thousands of residents.

Education:  Southern Pine Electric’s service area is close to numerous universities, private and community colleges.  Universities include, the University of Southern Mississippi and William Carey University along with the private schools of Mississippi College, Millsaps College and Belhaven College.  Community colleges consist of Jones County Junior College, East Central Community College, Hinds Community College, Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Recreation:   South Central Mississippi boasts a variety of attractions and outdoor recreational attractions. These include cultural destinations such as the Saenger Theater in Hattiesburg and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson.  The area also boasts numerous golf courses, like the Hattiesburg Country Club and outdoor escapes like the Okatoma River.
